A surgical procedure in which the surgeon uses a graft – either a blood vessel from another part of the body or one made of synthetic fabric – to bypass a blockage and restore blood flow to a blocked abdominal aorta. Typically requires a hospital stay of five to seven days.
The surgical removal of atherosclerotic plaque from the carotid artery. This surgery is typically recommended over less invasive treatments when the blockage in the carotid artery becomes significant – 70 percent or more.

A less invasive procedure in which the surgeon inserts a catheter into a narrowed carotid artery and then inflates a tiny balloon to reopen the artery. A wire mesh stent is used to keep the artery open.
Endovascular stent graft for aneurysms
A minimally invasive surgery inserted into an artery to treat and prevent rupture of an aneurysm.
Peripheral balloon angioplasty and possible stents
A procedure to open an artery that is narrowed by plaque, using a balloon at the end of a flexible tube, and possible placement of a stent to keep the blood vessel open.
Surgical aneurysm repair
Traditional surgery to repair an aneurysm, in which the vascular surgeon repairs or removes the aneurysm through an incision in the skin. Typically requires a hospital stay of seven to 10 days.
Treatments for varicose veins and spider veins
Minimally invasive treatments to stop the pain, swelling and unsightliness of varicose veins and spider veins, including:
- Endovenous laser treatments – A thin laser fiber is inserted through a tiny entry point, delivering laser energy to seal the faulty vein.
- TriVex vein excision – The removal of the varicose vein using a small illuminated surgical device (also called transilluminated power phlebectomy, or TIPPS).
- Sclerotherapy – Injection of varicose veins with a solution that scars and closes those veins, leading to eventual fading. Performed in the physician’s office.
